FUNCTION:
Sets up various machines for use in manufacturing locks and keys and assembles complicated locks with varying combinations.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

REQUIREMENTS:
This section is composed of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) which are required to satisfactorily perform the tasks of the position. Applicants must demonstrate that they possess a sufficient level of each KSA, to include at least minimum competency for senior-qualified positions to enable them to perform these tasks satisfactorily. Applicants demonstrate these levels by describing examples of experience, education, or training, any of which may be non-postal. Ratings are based on the demonstration of the level of possession of each of the KSAs. Failure to demonstrate any KSA is disqualifying. B-1. Ability to use hand tools. B-3. Ability to assemble, disassemble and reassemble locks. B-4. Ability to work without immediate supervision. B-7. Ability to diagnose problems of reparable locks and render them serviceable. B-9. Safety in performance of duties common to the position. B-11. Ability to use measuring instruments such as templates and gauges. B-13. Ability to plan, lay out, and set up work independently. B-19. Ability to instruct. B-21. Ability to inspect finished product to insure locks are in perfect working order. B-24. Ability to set up. B-31. Ability to operate metalworking machines such as turret lathes, profiles, milling machines, drill presses, key cutting machines and power brushes in making special locks. B-54. Ability to schedule work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be physically able to perform efficiently the duties of the position.
