BARGAINING UNIT QUALIFICATION STANDARD 5704b (5704-03XX ) MAIL HANDLER EQUIPMENT OPERATOR DOCUMENT DATE: March 2, 2000 FUNCTION: Operates a jitney, forklift, or pallet truck for the movement of mail; and performs other mail handler functions as required. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: See the Standard Position Description for the Occupation Code given above. REQUIREMENTS: This section is composed of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) which are required to satisfactorily perform the tasks of the position. Applicants must demonstrate that they possess a sufficient level of each KSA, to include at least minimum competency for senior-qualified positions to enable them to perform these tasks satisfactorily. Applicants demonstrate these levels by describing examples of experience, education, or training, any of which may be non-postal. Ratings are based on the demonstration of the level of possession of each of the KSAs. Failure to demonstrate any KSA is disqualifying. B-1. Ability to use and maintain equipment. B-4. Ability to work without immediate supervision. B-9. Safety in performance of duties common to the position. B-14. Ability to interpret instructions. B-45. Ability to understand and comply with written and verbal instructions. B-48. Ability to handle weights and loads, beyond "normal" functions of a position. B-53. Ability to work with others. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must be physically able to perform efficiently the duties of the position. ADDITIONAL PROVISION: Applicants must be proficient at operating a jitney, forklift, or pallet truck in confined areas, both indoors and outside, and at estimating weights and negotiable space limitations. |
