FUNCTION:
 
Schedules mail for overseas dispatch in accordance with vessel sailings.
 
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

REQUIREMENTS:
 
This section is composed of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) which are required to satisfactorily perform the tasks of the position. Applicants must demonstrate that they possess a sufficient level of each KSA, to include at least minimum competency for senior-qualified positions to enable them to perform these tasks satisfactorily. Applicants demonstrate these levels by describing examples of experience, education, or training, any of which may be non-postal. Ratings are based on the demonstration of the level of possession of each of the KSAs. Failure to demonstrate any KSA is disqualifying.
 
General

Special Applicants must have ability to obtain information concerning steamship schedules and to prepare schemes and schedules considering routing, assigning, and dispatching various classes of mail and for use of preferential vessels.
 
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
 
Applicants must have three years of experience in distributing and dispatching outgoing, transit, and incoming mail.
 
Applicants must have either (a) qualified within the past three years on the scheme or schemes used in the unit to which he will be assigned, with no repeated failures of scheme examination in those three years; or (b) if not currently qualified on the schemes, the applicant must qualify within 90 days.
 
Applicants will be rated based on training, education, and/or experience in the elements listed above.
 
Note: The required amount of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification. The applicant's record of experience and training must show the ability to perform the duties of the position.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Applicant must be able to physically perform efficiently the duties of the position.
 
ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS:
 
The Postal Service may require applicants who qualify under this standard to satisfactorily complete a prescribed training course prior to assignment, reassignment, or promotion to this position. This information will be provided in the vacancy announcement posted at the installation.
