FUNCTION:
 
Requisitions, receives, stores, issues, and accounts for a wide variety of parts, tools, and supplies. This position provides services for Postal Service Headquarters, West Building, L'Enfant Plaza.

REQUIREMENTS:
 
This section is composed of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) which are required to satisfactorily perform the tasks of the position. Applicants must demonstrate that they possess a sufficient level of each KSA, to include at least minimum competency for senior-qualified positions to enable them to perform these tasks satisfactorily. Applicants demonstrate these levels by describing examples of experience, or training, any of which may be non-postal. Ratings are based on the demonstration of the level of possession of each of the KSAs. Failure to demonstrate any KSA is disqualifying.
 
Issues Supply Items: This considers selecting, issuing, and accounting for supply items. This includes: The ability to work without immediate supervision. The ability to use reference materials and manuals relevant to the position. The ability to work with others. The ability to maintain proper stock levels. The general knowledge of a variety of tools, parts, and supplies.
 
Requisitions Supply Items: This considers preparing and submitting procurement requisitions in order to maintain prescribed levels of stock. This includes: The ability to prepare reports. The ability to interpret instructions and specifications. The knowledge of supply and stock procedures.
 
Maintains Inventories: This considers maintaining inventories on a perpetual, periodic, or special basis. This includes: The knowledge of inventory controls. The ability to organize and arrange a stockroom. The ability to evaluate the condition of tools, parts, and equipment of the unit.
 
Receives Supply Items: This considers receiving and checking stock against corresponding Requisitions and invoices. This includes: The knowledge of receiving procedures. The ability to perform basic mathematical computations. The ability to compare received items to those requisitioned and to reconcile any differences. The knowledge of shipping procedures.
 
Maintains Records:
 
This considers maintaining stock and property records. This includes: The ability to maintain stock records. The ability to control records of receipt and issue. The ability to maintain property records and prepare reports.
 
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
 
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to type 30 words per minute for five minutes with no more than two errors. This must be demonstrated by successful completion of Postal Service Test 713. Certificates of proficiency are not acceptable.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Applicant must be physically able to perform efficiently the duties of the position. Applicants for this position must perform moderate lifting (15-44 pounds).
 
ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS:
 
Applicants must have the knowledge, skill, and ability to operate an electric truck and jack in order to move and unload supplies.
 
The required KSAs will not in themselves be accepted as final proof of qualification. The applicant's total record of experience, education, training, and supervisory appraisal must show the ability to perform the duties of the position.
