FUNCTION:
 
Assists and trains in duties of progressively increasing responsibility in computer systems operation preparatory to assuming complete operational assignments.

REQUIREMENTS:
 
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
 
1. Applicants must have two years of general experience and six months of specialized, progressively responsible experience with the particular installation's primary operating system or comparable operating system, for a total of 2½ years of experience.
 
2. The educational accomplishments of each applicant will be evaluated to determine if they demonstrate the KSAs and/or experience requirements of the job. When education fully demonstrates a minimum qualification element, no other demonstration is necessary for that element. When education is a partial demonstration of a minimum qualification element, further evidence, such as experience or training, is required.
 
3. This position requires progressively responsible experience acquired more so in the Postal Service installation than experience gained outside the postal installation.
 
Note: The required amount of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification. The applicant's record of experience and training must show the ability to perform the duties of the position.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
 
This section is composed of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) which are required to satisfactorily perform the tasks of the position. Applicants must demonstrate that they possess a sufficient level of each KSA, to include at least minimum competency for senior-qualified positions to enable them to perform these tasks satisfactorily. Applicants demonstrate these levels by describing examples of experience, education, or training, any of which may be non-postal. Ratings are based on the demonstration of the level of possession of each of the KSAs. Failure to demonstrate any KSA is disqualifying.
 
1. Ability to analyze and dispose of a problem.
 
2. Ability to use reference materials and manuals.
 
3. Ability to diagnose mechanical trouble.
 
4. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc.
 
5. Ability to work with others.
 
6. Ability to schedule work in a computer room situation.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Applicants must be physically able to perform efficiently the duties of the position. Vision of 20/40 (Snellen) in one eye and ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters are required. Corrective lenses are permitted. Ability to distinguish basic colors and shades is desirable. Ability to hear the conversational voice is required; hearing aids are permitted.

Applicants will be rated and ranked on the basis of the quality and extent of their total experience, education, and training.
